Pride of Place, Growing up in Sheriff Street was a Photography exhibition by Maria McGrane that took place in the Liffey Corner Room of the CHQ Building from 4th to 9th April, as part of the Five Lamps Arts Festival 2022. The Exhibition was accompanied by a Talks Programme.
In collaboration with The Five Lamps Arts Festival and the artist, Julia coordinated the exhibition and the talk series on behalf of Dublin City Arts Office.
About the Exhibition
The exhibition retraced the life of Maria McGrane’s dad’s shop Mattie’s, a centre piece of Dublin’s Sheriff Street community for decades. Through photography portraits, interviews of old customers and memorabilia from the no longer existing shop, the artist brought back to life the history of Sheriff Street in the 1950s-70s and celebrated the memory of this community.
