Playing Up

Participative Live Art Game, 2018

Coordinator & Facilitator

‘Playing Up’ is an interactive workshop for adults and children to play together while exploring live art. It is a game created by Sibylle Peters from the Live Art Development Agency (LADA), initially produced in 2017 at the Tate Modern, to explore the potential of Live Art to bridge generations.

Julia coordinated Playing Up in several instances with Dublin City Arts Office and The LAB Gallery. First with students from the Central Model Senior School and the London-based LADA artist Finn Love, and then as part of Cruinniú na nÓg 2018, in partnership with Create Ireland. It was covered by the TV channel RTE News, in News2Day.

Julia presented an adapted version of Playing Up, ‘The Citizen Play’, for Culture Night 2018 at The Hugh Lane Gallery.
